Trainee Payroll Admin

Location: Mauritius

Offshore Group provides outsourced accounting and payroll services to a wide range of clients across the UK, Jersey and Guernsey. As a Trainee Payroll Administrator, you will support the payroll team with day-to-day processing and administration while developing your knowledge of payroll legislation, software and client service across a varied portfolio of clients.


This role would suit someone who is organised, accurate and keen to learn. Working closely with our Senior Payroll Administrators and Payroll Team Leader, you will play a valuable part in delivering a high-quality service to clients while building the skills you need to progress within the profession.


What you will be doing


Reporting to the Payroll Team Leader, you will:


  • Help gather payroll information from clients in line with processing deadlines

  • Support the team in preparing and processing payroll data using payroll software

  • Check payroll information for accuracy and flag any discrepancies to senior colleagues

  • Assist with payroll amendments, corrections and re-runs under supervision

  • Help prepare and input payment information into payment platforms

  • Support the preparation and submission of statutory payroll returns

  • Help produce and distribute payroll reports and employee documents, including payslips, P45s and P60s

  • Respond to routine client queries and escalate anything more complex to senior team members

  • Assist with onboarding new payroll clients, from gathering information to setting up records

  • Keep payroll records, procedure notes and workflow trackers accurate and up to date

  • Handle all payroll information confidentially and in line with GDPR

  • Build a solid understanding of payroll legislation across the jurisdictions we serve

  • Record your time accurately using Harvest and our internal systems

  • Support wider team projects, process reviews and administrative tasks as needed

  • Take on additional responsibilities as your skills and experience grow


What we are looking for


  • Up to one year's experience in an administrative role

  • Good IT skills, including a solid working knowledge of Excel

  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to work to tight deadlines

  • Excellent written communication skills

  • A flexible attitude and the ability to work well within a small team

  • A genuine willingness to learn

  • A careful, accurate approach to your work
