Trainee Accountant
Location: Guernsey or Jersey
This role is ideal for a school leaver, University leaver, or someone starting their career who is confident, motivated, and keen to learn. You do not need prior accountancy experience — what matters most is your attitude, curiosity, and commitment to developing a professional career. You will be fully supported to study towards the ACCA qualification while gaining hands-on experience working with real clients and real financial information.
Key job responsibilities
Under supervision and with training, assist with:
Bookkeeping in the client ledgers
Complete monthly billing to customers
Accurately recording supplier bills (including using Dext, Hubdoc etc), inclusive of VAT/GST (where applicable)
Setting up payments (including bills, supplier payments, payroll payments) in online banking systems, in line with company procedures and good governance e.g. call backs on new suppliers
Daily, weekly, monthly bank reconciliations
Administrative support to management as requested
Run various financial reports, such as trial balance, to aid the review and analysis of figures.
Chasing outstanding client debtors
Work efficiently on multiple clients at once, ensuring work is prioritised based on the various client tasks and deadlines
Proactively communicate with clients via phone call, onsite meetings and e-mail
Assisting with running reports in the system / providing invoices to auditors
Manage the accounts mailbox and obtain supporting documents for transactions
Ensure client procedures are always kept up to date and saved in the workflow system
Develop good relationships with clients, including understanding their business practices and specific needs
Ensure GDPR requirements are met for handling of data. · Any other tasks as required by your Line Manager
